🏕️ Using the Nature’s Head Composting Toilet
Bama Campground & RV Park – Composting Toilet Instructions
Help us keep your stay clean, easy, and eco-friendly!
💩 For Solids (“Poop”)
Sit down to use the toilet — do not squat or stand.
Open the trap door (lever inside the bowl) before going #2.
When finished, close the trap door and turn the handle slowly three times counterclockwise to mix the waste into the composting peat moss.
🚫 Do NOT put toilet paper or anything else in the toilet.
Please use the trash can provided for all paper, wipes, and hygiene items.
💦 For Liquids (“Pee”)
Urine is collected in a separate front container.
Please sit to pee — standing may cause splashing or contamination of the compost.
🧴 Urine Tank Disposal (Required Every Stay)
Please check the front urine container during your stay. Empty whenever the container is 2/3 full. Follow these simple steps before you checkout:
Unlatch both sides of the toilet bowl.
Gently tilt the bowl forward and remove the urine tank.
Cap the bottle and take it to the designated disposal spot in the woods (ask staff if unsure).
Reattach gently — the bottle should click securely into place.
⚠️ Be gentle. Misalignment can cause leaks or damage.
